Here is another example of the taxi from Gift Set 35. The driver has a bow tie! This is the only source of taxis with drivers that I am aware of, although I suppose it is feasible that some could have found their way into normal 418 boxes.

Strangely, there are two types of driver - this one and another with a uniform and peaked cap. I would guess that the uniform one is rather earlier but the example I have had was from a model with free spinning wheels so it cannot have been that early.

This particular model is not in the best of condition, with many chips in the paintwork and lumps where someone seems to have used super glue to stick things on. The windows have survived and the wheels are fine and I will, eventually, have to do something about the paintwork. However, these with drivers are pretty scarce so I’ll wait until I get another before this goes on the Black List. In the meantime it’s a bargain if you need one.
