One of the longest-running models was the Land Rover which now reaches Whizzwheels form but, apart from a different tow hook, is the same as ever!

The wheels really are terrible, though. This is a fairly normal metallic green version. I say ‘fairly normal’ as most sold in this period would have been with the Pony Club set in blue, farming pursuits definitely now much lower in boys’ interests than they had been in the late 1950s.

There are also Daktari (green with black camouflage stripes) and Longleat (white with black) versions with Whizzwheels and two blue versions too and a very bright shade of green.

This is a Type II model with the all yellow interior and black hook. It’s a bit tatty and has a broken window so is cheap.

There is an earlier version of this, with the old style lemon interior and grey steering wheel and, I think, these would have a grey tow hook.
