These are photos of the actual model available. Remember that these toys are around 50 years old! All models advertised are original, not restored or repainted unless I have stated otherwise.
This is an example of a rare version from the very early Corgi catalogue. The Thunderbird with a Mechanical motor came out in March 1959 but these ceased to be made in 1959 so it is one of the short-lived models and didn’t sell that well either in this form - even less than the Golden Hawk, around 72,000 it is said.
The pink and black model is always the M version, the freewheeling one being pea green and cream. The pink and black is a combination that I don’t recall seeing on any other vehicle, real or 1:43 scale! It certainly stands out and the paintwork is in very good condition.
Nice models are expensive, if you can find any. This one has fairly clear windows - the oil from the mechanism often tended to spray around inside and it is not easy to clean.
The motor works as it should on this one. It really is one of the best I have encountered.
The tyres have been replaced since the gallery photos were taken as they didn’t look right. The photos will be updated soon. If you look very closely you’ll see they have been cut then resealed. This is the only way that I can see they can be fitted. This is not at all noticeable but I need to point this out.
