These are photos of the actual model you are buying. Remember that these toys are around 50 years old! All models advertised are original, not restored or repainted unless I have stated otherwise.
Sometime before May 1970 someone at Corgi thinks ‘Ah, we must put Whizzwheels on The Saint’s Volvo. Big mistake. That car was already a classic in the range and it didn’t need changing. It had been around for years already. If anything, they could bring out a new version, perhaps, as this was one of the originals that did nothing, its only features being sparkly lights an spring suspension which by that decade, had worn a bit thin.
I mean - they changed the ruddy interior to a yucky shade or brown so why not do something more! Crazy. Anyway, it wasn’t to last long in this form, dying off in 1972 just a year or so later, and so making this quite a rare model to find.
It has taken me a while, being the fourth from last to be bought in my Whizzwheels list. This one is much better in the flesh than I had imagined and I am pleased to have found it after all when I hadn’t been at all enthusiastic from viewing most examples available.
It even has a box. Not a very nice box but it is original and just about all there.
These are valuable. I make no apologies for the hefty-looking price but that’s what you need to pay for a decent one. This also comes with the pretty blue bonnet sticker. They were usually red.
