One of the February 1959 re-issues of the first models, now with two-tone paintwork.

The Morris Cowley was a popular car on the British roads of the time but still strikes me as an unusual car for a model, Corgi’s other 1959 car releases being the Thunderbird, Plymouth Suburban and pretty Renault Floride.

Withdrawn in 1961, these two-tone models were not big sellers and now command quite good prices. This one is the mid blue roof over a very pale green version. I don’t think there were other variations of this one.

The paintwork has suffered a bit but the screens are clear, the wheels good and  never cease to be amazed at just how long-lasting that silver paint was.
