Corgi did eventually get round to making the true British classic Rolls Royce. A bit late in the day, though, but I suppose they couldn’t easily match the success of the remarkable Bentley Continental over the years before.
Once they had made this, though, they had some fun with Golden Jacks but Whizzwheels were on the horizion and it was only a mattyer of months before they were unceremoniously plonked on to the Rolls.
As if to add insult to injury Corgi then came out with a Bentley which was more or less identical apart from the radiator, of course, and, unfortunately also the colour. They went for pink. Oh dear.
These were big but well-made models, apart from the Whizzwheels. The Golden Jack Rolls was usually cream over blue but if you are very lucky you’ll find a blue over silver version. That’s nice. The Whizzwheel versions came in this colour as well as all blue and all silver rather later in its life.
