These old commercial vehicles do have a certain charm. There were just three: 452, a dropside lorry, this and 454, a platform lorry. This was issued in 1956 in the very first year of Corgi Toys.

There are two shades of blue for the cab: a pale blue (more familiar with those who know Walls products!) and this dark blue. This is the scarcer of the two colours and this example looks wonderful with shiny deep paintwork and a remarkably untouched rear section with original transfers.

It has the earliest smooth hubs and good tyres, including the often missing spare underneath. There is a little rust appearing on the tin base. The windows are nice and clean and this is a really nice example of the early commercial model.

There are two versions of this - the mid blue one has a more detailed cab and rear section, being produced a little later. The rear section has clear lines along the side and roof and the cab roof has a shaped section. There are also two types of rear axle: open and closed. I have to discover whether these align with the other types of casting described and, indeed, whether both match dark / mid blue shades.

I would recommend. At this stage, just getting examples of each colour which should also provide the main casting differences.
