These are photos of the actual model available. Remember that these toys are around 50 years old! All models advertised are original, not restored or repainted unless I have stated otherwise.
Here’s a Whizzwheel model that doesn’t have Mazak on the base and the baseplate is actually in old style pale grey metal too which is different to most of the others. The centre panel opens up to reveal a pretty simplified engine (although I guess it may perhaps have had cables and things covered and did look as neat in real life) and something that looks like a spare wheel but with no room for a tyre so presumably isn’t.
There is a shade of blue perspex for the driver’s compartment and that also provides the headlights. Stickers have been removed and I think the car looks a lot better without them!.
There is a blue version with yellow perspex that you’ll see too and, as this was an iconic model at the time, producing as much power and speed as today’s hottest models, it was popular with the kids so not particularly rare in either colour. Most did get played with, though, so it is comparatively difficult to find edition in this condition. The bodywork is excellent with no marks and the rear suspension has survived as best any Whizzwheel model suspension can. Not that these had much in the first place and it still sits well on the surface.
It’s not my favourite model but I had to get it for the stock list. It comes with a decent box too. The cellophane has a tear but otherwise the box is complete and clean.
